Contraceptives with $0 cost share

St. Petersburg, FL - 8/8/2012 As part of Health Care Reform, effective August 1, 2012, a number of contraceptives are available for $0 cost share. Please read the following information about your pharmacy benefit.

Note that the information below is for policies that do not include a pharmacy benefit manager. If your student insurance I.D. card displays a Medco logo and Bin number on the lower right, please see this information about contraceptives.

You and your doctor make decisions about your treatment, including decisions about prescription medications.

  • FDA approved GENERIC contraceptives are $0 cost share contraceptives.
  • If your policy DOES provide a Prescription Drug Benefit: If you choose a name brand contraceptive, you will be responsible for the applicable deductible and/or coinsurance.
  • If your policy DOES NOT provide a Prescription Drug Benefit: There is NO COVERAGE for name brand contraceptives; you will be responsible for the entire cost of the prescription.
  • Over the counter birth control products are not covered. The health reform law does not require these products to be provided at no cost because they are available without a prescription.

For direct reimbursement, members may submit receipts to UnitedHealthcare StudentResources at P.O. Box 809025, Dallas, Texas, 75380-9025. Please be sure to include your full name, ID card number, policy name and number and full receipt showing pharmacy's name and address.

We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and we are committed to helping you make the best use of your pharmacy benefits. For more information, please call the toll-free number on the front of your student health plan I.D. card.
